How can I practically apply the Enneagram?

How do I use the Enneagram?

When used for its intended purpose, the Enneagram...

  • provides an opportunity for transformation and extensive self-awareness

  • highlights your natural strengths and at the same time, allows you to see some of the most difficult or hidden parts of yourself

  • allows for greater compassion for yourself and others

  • builds community and strengthens relationships by giving you tools to more effectively interact with others

The Enneagram gives you a blueprint of yourself, focusing on the underlying motivation for why you act, think, and feel the way you do. It helps you see how you show up in the world and how you relate to others.

It's an excellent tool for developing an inner observer, which is the key to self-awareness and personal growth.

It provides a neutral language for you to talk about your similarities and differences with others. It creates a clearer understanding of your relationships and changes the way you relate to others.

The Enneagram isn’t intended to just provide you with information about yourself, it’s most effective when used as a resource for changing stuck places and getting rid of limiting beliefs.

The Enneagram is commonly used for:

  • personal self-awareness

  • personal development and growth

  • team/group/family dynamics

  • strengthening relationships

  • conflict resolution

  • reframing limiting beliefs

  • effective communication with others

  • balanced decision-making

  • taking effective action in life

  • leveraging strengths in leadership

  • discovering blind spots

  • strengthening your emotional intelligence

Because the Enneagram provides growth paths for each Type, it's often used in areas such as counseling,  psychotherapy, team development, executive coaching, personal growth development,  parenting, and education.

Working with an Enneagram Coach can help you understand the deep nuance of the Enneagram system and how to apply it individually and within a group.
