Subtypes of Type 8: The Protective Challenger
SELF-PRESERVATION 8: SATISFACTION
This 8 is focused on the need to be fiercely protective of their families, health, finances, and home. They express lust through a focus on getting what they need for survival, power, influence, and control. They tend to get what they need to survive for themselves and their family by being strong, practical, and tough-minded. Maintaining control of their resources provides them with a sense of independence and self-reliance. They are providers for their family being especially good at bartering and bargaining. They are less expressive and more direct than other types of 8s.

SOCIAL 8: SOLIDARITY
(the countertype)
This type of 8 appears less aggressive and more loyal than other 8s. They express lust in their excessive service to others. They are very attuned to injustice and offering help to their groups and communities. They often appear more outgoing, mellow, and don't feel anger as quickly. This type 8 uses their power and influence to serve others. Although they are naturally more friendly and nurturing, they will still appear somewhat anti-social and may disregard some of society’s rules.

ONE-TO-ONE/SEXUAL 8: POSSESION
The One-to-One 8 expresses lust by their desire to capture and possess everyone’s attention. They are the most rebellious, emotionally intense, and charismatic of the three 8’s. Instead of looking for material security they are looking to have control and influence over those close to them. They look to feel powerful and in control by taking over the environment they are in. They adore their loved ones but also seek relationship with those who are as strong as they are so that they can relax their need to feel like they have to take care of and provide. They seek out intense stimulation and adrenaline rushes.
